RURAL HOLIDAYS IN BRITTANY, FRANCE

Linda and Roger Nicholls offer a choice of 2 holiday houses (prices from £250 pw including linen, towels, electricity and gas) situated in 20 acres of their own land including valleys, woods and streams. Set in a small hamlet, surrounded by trees, are two properties, the "stone gite" and the "wooden gite", both fully equipped, with private gardens. All accommodation is south facing with views across the wooded valley. Within the grounds is a pretty wildlife lake with a stream running through the valley, a short walk from the houses and the local beaches on the north Brittany coast are 45 minutes drive. Roger and Linda will happily organise BBQ and Crepe evenings by prior arrangements where you can sample the local Breton specialty of Cider and Crepes.

The location is an ideal base from which to explore Brittany, offering an opportunity to take advantage of the excellent uncongested roads and a chance to see an unspoilt landscape, from craggy cliffs and bays on the north coast and extensive sandy beaches on the south coast. Bicycle and motorcycle enthusiasts love the area as it is perfect for exploring on two wheels. Guided Bike tours led by a fluent french speaker and long term resident, including drink and meal breaks are available via prior arrangement. For those that ride vintage models, Roger offers the use of a workshop if running repairs are needed and there is a dry area in which to park the bikes. If a "DIY" repair is not sufficient then qualified help is available close by. Bikers, Burlaouen and Brittany are a formidable combination.

The accommodation is situated at the end of a lane and therefore there is no through traffic to be concerned about. There is a vast array of wildlife to observe in the woods and plenty of footpaths and bicycle routes to enjoy, direct from the hamlet. The local village of Lanrivain is five minutes away and offers a bakers, shop, bar and restaurant where you can sample the local Breton hospitality and enjoy the local tipple and practice your French.
